The seemingly chaotic, yet elegantly precise turbulent flows that occur within the dynamics of fluid systems are responsible for some of the most brilliant natural phenomenon and, at the same time, some of nature’s most destructive forces. it is possible to simulate these conditions toward performative design solutions for architectural problems. This project highlights the potential of building performance analysis as an integral part of a design process by using CFD to situate and sculpt a series of building envelopes in a preventative manner. The site for the memorial’s campus of buildings is organized in a series of low-turbulence areas, or eddies, along a fluid stream which terminates at a scenic outlook of the sea.
